Dr. Sun Yet-sen Mausoleum
中山陵
Dr. Sun Yet-sen, the father of the Republic of China, died in March 12, 1925. The first part of the mausoleum
was completed and his coffin entered in 1929. The Memorial was completed in 1931 and opened to the
public in 2010.

The memorial is just to the east of  grave of the first emperor of Ming dynasty.明孝陵。 Both can be reached
by subway and shuttle bus in between makes it convenient to visit both on the same trip.

The Memorial is set on 392 steps with 73m rise in elevation. The 392 steps symbolize the population of
China in that time 392, million. The path is 40m wide, widened in the lower sections, in a bell shape,
symbolized the warning bell for the people that the democracy is still young and the invasion from
neighboring countries.
