La Mauricie National Park of Canada
Located  between Montreal and Quebec, just north of Trois-Rivieres, La Mauricie National Park of Canada is a
remnant of glacier with 150 lakes on different height. There is a park road pass through the park with lots of camp
grounds for everyone and hiking trails lead to beautiful sights.

It was a one-day trip we planned, drive the park road from west to the east stopping at the visitor centers, short
trails and any sight along the way.

Saint Mathieu Visitor Center:
A lake adjacent to the visitor center.

A robin appeared in parking lot with a worm in
the mouth.
A White Admiral butterfly.
A Dragonfly.
First area of interest is Shewernegan.
Passing the wood bridge we arrive at a
large picnic area both indoor(preparation
area) and outdoor, then through a lake side
to a waterfall.
Framing the lake view is white pine, a high
quality lumber for ship-building and
cabinetry. The heavy cutting in the previous
centuries, reduced the pine population from
12% to 1-2%. With the establishment of the
National Park, pine population is on the
come back.
A waterfall attracted many splashers.
Men and American Black Duck share the lakeside.
Orange Hawkweed.
We think of glaciers erode the
mountains wide and deep, but
when the melt, the debris they
carry got deposited where they
were, e.g. the flat land in
between the lakes was not
there until glacier left it there.
Lake Wapizagonke, the longest
lake in the park, 16km in
length.
Yellow Hawkweed, Shasta Daisy and
wild flowers.
On the trail to Lac Edouard, we came across
this female Spruce Grouse. She is by herself,
at first she was shy, then she can't overcome
her curiosity and walking back under the
brushes to have a good look, also I did not
miss any chance of photographing her.
Lake Edouard
Wild Sarsaparilla.

Trilliam.
Lake Du Fou 杜甫?
A stream and Damselfly.
The light blue/white is a kind of lichen, symbiotic body of alga and fungus. The light green radiating light green leaves
are seedling of this year's spruce. The pinnate (feather-like) green leaves are 2nd year spruce. The short light
green-centered small growth in between the above are moss plants.
A mushroom.
Shinleaf.
Shasta Daisy, Pointed Blue-eyed Grass and
Buttercup.
Across the River Saint Maurice.

A White Admiral butterfly.
After a visit to the park, the family is going
home on the boat.
Yellow Pond Lily and
