| Lake Placid Region--Adirondack II |
There are four areas, that are near Lake Placid, are highlights of this trip Oct. 3, 2011.
1. Olympic Ski Jump--Ride up a 25 story elevator to a panaramic view of the surrounding areas.
2. High Falls Gorge -see the awesome Ausable River drop through many high rocks and run north.
3. Wilminton Notch Fall--Climb down a steep slope of pine woods then get presented with a great waterfall.
4. Veteran Memorial Drive- Drive up Hwy 431to the summit of White face Mountain and enjoy the great view.
The Ski Jump is off Hwy 73 then John Brown Road. The other three are off 86 north successively.

To purchase the ticket to go up the elevator, we went by the US team practicing ski jump into a pool. The skillful
execution of the jump, twist and turn is so captivating. Here is a short clip, please take a look:

A couple miles north of the High Falls Gorge, Wilminton Notch camp
ground offers Wilminton Notch Falls and this ring of mushrooms on
one of the northern campsites.

Wilminton Notch Falls, Go by the restroom in southend toward west, will descend through a pine forest about 0.5mile.
Further up north on 86, come the entrance to gondola and ski lift up to the Whiteface Mountain. The following are a few

Further north, 86 connects to 431, Veterans Memorial Hwy, it reaches the summit of Whiteface Mountain and is a toll road.

Off Main Street of Lake Placid is the Information Center, which is by the Mirror Lake. It was a beautiful day.
