Visit of Taipei First Girls High School Marching Band and
Honor Guards to Longwood Gardens
                July 2nd, 2006
臺北第一女子中學儀樂隊長木公園表演記
The Marching Band and Honor Guards of my Alma Mata were invited to attend the Independence Day
celebration in Washington DC. They landed  in New York June 30th and have their first performance July 2nd
in Longwood Gardens.

Although it was a short notice, we, a couple hundred of alumnae made it to the Beautiful Longwood Garden in
92 degree F. The conservatory of the Longwood Gardens are very nice. It is beautifully designed and has been
changed since I last visited in 93'.
At 2:30 the performance started on time. The master of ceremony gave an introduction to the band and color
guards, then the wonderful performance started. It is very accurate, precise and spirited, easily won the
applause of the several hundreds audience. Afterwards we saw these young schoolmates, already changed
into their green uniform and out enjoy the gardens. It is nice to see that they enjoy the beauty of the garden as
they are taking photos. They are continuing to DC when the Alumnae there are treating them for a dinner. The
local Alumnae are having a gathering in a Chinese restaurant with a specially arranged buffet. We joined them
and had a good talk. Many of the alumnae are volunteers of the Garden and they come here often. We had to
stay at the restaurant twenty more minutes for it was pouring rain and thunder storm.
