Antelope Canyons Navajo Country (near Page, AZ)
|
The red colored rock in the south west states of US, e.g. Arizona and Utah, is most intriguing part
of the landscape. But the slot canyons in that area, characterized by the orange, red or purple
reflected light captured only in camera but not by human eye is more fascinating and has been the
dream place of photographers.
Two most famous slot canyons are Upper and Lower Antelope Canyons, in the Navajo Country but
only 4 miles to the east of Page, AZ, which has a small airport. One can arrange a 6 hr. connecting
flights from the east coast.
We visited the Lower Antelope Canyons in the morning, had lunch in Page and came back to the
intersection of Antelope Point Rd and Hwy 98, marked by the three giant chimneys of the Navaho
Generating Station, to visit the Upper Antelope Canyon.
